Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with Library Media endorsement
  • Knowledge of and experience with organizing and managing a library collection.
  • Knowledge of and experience with an automated circulation system.
  • Knowledge of and experience with instructional technology in the delivery of curriculum.
  • Experience with planning and working with staff in implementing integrated curriculum and student use of technologies.
  • Demonstrated evidence of ability to select, order and process new resources.
  • Demonstrated evidence of ability to assist students with media selection appropriate to their needs, interests and abilities.
  • Demonstrated evidence of ability to establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive and safe environment for learning.
  • Demonstrated evidence of ability to supervise and direct the work of classified library staff, student aides and library volunteers.
  • Demonstrated evidence of ability to value and provide for individual and cultural differences.
  • Must possess technology skills and leadership to include knowledge of computers and related equipment, software applications, and the effective use of technology.
  • Advanced ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and through the use of technology.
  • Candidate has not received notice of nonrenewal from the Ridgefield School District pursuant to RCW 28A.405.220

Essential Functions:

  • Create and maintain appropriate emotional and psychological Library/Media Center climate to promote an orderly learning environment for all students.
  • Apply advanced technological skills and leadership to include knowledge of computers, related equipment, software applications, and the effective use of technology with students and staff.
  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively with teachers on matters requiring professional decisions relative to students and their relationship to the Library/Media Center (i.e. a comparative determination of book lists, book selection, projects, class instruction, etc.).
  • Teach to District and state-approved course goals and standards for Library/Media Center 
  • Work as an enthusiastic part of a learning-centered environment believing that each student can learn.
  • Participate in staff/professional development aligned with School and District initiatives.
  • Participate in a variety of meetings for conveying and/or gathering information. to provide for professional growth.
  • Provide timely and accurate completion of required and requested records and reports.
  • Work effectively and cooperatively with community, parents, teachers, administrators and support staff.
  • Demonstrate a vision that is progressive, innovative, and shows a commitment to excellence for a Library/Media Center.
  • Subject matter expertise commonly associated with teaching and instruction for the Library/Media Center.
  • Knowledge of and ability to carry out District, building and/or department goals and objectives, School Board policy, OSPI directives, rules and interpretations and state statues.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance and hours of operation as set by the assigned building/location to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position to achieve program requirements.
  • Perform related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the District.

START DATE: 08/31/2022 with TRI days starting 8/23/2022.  

New teacher induction dates: 8/17, 8/18, 8/19, & 8/22.
