Minimum Qualifications:

• A valid Washington State teaching certificate or certification in process through OSPI with Math or Mid-level Math or Science or Mid-level Science endorsement AND Elementary endorsement.
• Demonstrated strong skills and background in current trends, instructional methods and strategies in teaching students.
• Demonstrated evidence of effective classroom management skills.
• Demonstrated evidence of effectively working with students, parents and staff.
• Knowledge of appropriate content standards and ability to integrate into classroom instruction.
• Demonstrated ability to modify instruction to improve student learning through the use of formative, summative, and performance assessment strategies.
• Advanced ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and through the use of technology.
• Candidate has not received notice of nonrenewal from the Ridgefield School District pursuant to RCW 28A.405.220

Preferred Qualifications:

• Successful teaching experience at the middle school level

• Experience and knowledge in the Professional Learning Communities framework for collaboration and demonstrated disposition to plan, assess, and reflect on instruction as part of a team

• Demonstrated ability to provide a balanced math learning experience focused on building conceptual understanding, application, and procedural skills

• Experience or training in creating 3 dimensional science lessons and assessments

• Successful experience implementing inclusive practices with students with disabilities

• Experience or training providing accommodations for students with disabilities and specialized needs to ensure all students access to science and math instruction
• Interest in and willingness to co-teach General Ed with clusters of Special Education students

• Successful experience implementing assessment-based interventions for students falling short of grade level standards

• Successful experience implementing meaningful enrichment and extension activities that deepen understanding for students who have met standards

• Experience and knowledge of standards-aligned grading practices

• Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and connect with students with a variety of backgrounds and interests

• Experience and disposition to work in a team teaching arrangement, specifically to support struggling student populations

Essential Functions:

• Demonstrate a vision that is progressive, innovative, and shows a commitment to excellence
• Collaborate with content and disciplinary teammates to provide a consistent, guaranteed and viable learning experience for all students
• Work as an enthusiastic part of a learning-centered environment believing that each student can learn
• Subscribe to the notion that “student success is a teacher’s paramount responsibility”
• Treat co-workers, supervisors, students, parents, and others with dignity and respect at all times
• Familiarity with a wide variety of teaching techniques which are used to maximize student learning
• Serve as a positive role model for students both in and out of assignment, and practice the behaviors that are expected of our students
• Teach to District and state-approved course goals and standards
• Prepare teaching materials and related reports (i.e. grades, attendance, assessment results, interventions, etc) for implementing lesson plans and documenting student progress
• Instruct students in subject matter specified by state law and administrative requirements of the School District
• Maintain effective, positive classroom management
• Assess student progress, expectations, goals, etc to provide feedback to students, parents, and administration
• Maintain records and submit reports as required or appropriate
• Willingness to participate in staff development aligned with School and District initiatives
• Seeks out professional development opportunities with in the science field
• Participate in a variety of meetings for conveying and/or gathering information
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance and hours of operation as set by the assigned building/location to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position to achieve program requirements
• Perform other duties as assigned
