Description

School-age after school care, 5 days per week 

Time Range: 

(2.25 hrs/day) M-F; 3:15 pm - 5:30 pm 

 

 

Start date: Immediate

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Meets all State DCYF requirements, including Child Care Basics training.
  • Criminal history clearance through Washington State Patrol and FBI. 
  • Documented negative tuberculosis (TB) test.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR certification
  • Minimum age requirement: 18
  • Must meet current Washington State mandates concerning COVID-19 as directed by the Governor of the State of Washington and/or Regional Health Director: Proof of COVID-19 vaccination, or request and approval of religious or medical accommodation.

     

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  • Minimum educational requirement is a High School Diploma or GED and one of the following:
  1. A score of 461 or above on ParaPro Assessment exam;
  2. Associate Degree from an accredited public or non-profit College or University;
  3. 48 sem./72 quarter credits from an accredited public or non-profit College or University. 

 

EXPERIENCE:   Two years work experience with small or large groups of children preferred.

 

JOB GOAL:       Provide supervision and assistance to the Early Learning Center.

 

DUTIES:  May include but are not limited to:

  • Facilitate and supervise the drop-off and pick-up of students following protocol of the Early Learning Center.
  • Supervise students in designated locations, both indoors and outdoors, to ensure a safe and orderly environment in accordance with District and school rules and regulations.
  • Use positive reinforcement strategies and other appropriate techniques to assist students in the development of appropriate behavior.
  • Adhere to standards of confidentiality in regard to students and staff.
  • Communicate with parents, children, teachers, and other staff as necessary to facilitate a safe, orderly, positive, and nurturing climate.
  • Assist with student and classroom behavior management, consistent with the IEP or IFSP, as needed.
  • Assist with clerical work as assigned.
  • Operate and maintain office/computer equipment as assigned.
  • Notify appropriate authority immediately in the event of any incident occurring on school premises.
  • Perform physical tasks, including long periods of sitting, standing, stooping, and repeated lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Perform housekeeping duties, including cleaning of indoor play equipment, toys, and work surfaces; laundering bedding; etc.
  • Provide for the physical needs of students in feeding, preparing snacks, toileting issues, etc.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to carry out the policies and procedures of the school relative to student safety and behavior management.
  • Ability to work instructionally, one-on-one or in small groups with students under the direct supervision of Early Learning Coordinator/Early Learning Teacher.
  • Ability to communicate and carry out District/building rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children and adults.
  • Ability to problem-solve as needed.
  • Possess competent record keeping skills.
  • Possess competent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with others as part of a team and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with students, parents, staff and the general public.
  • Ability to accurately read, write and compute per instructional needs.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to be highly self-directed.
  • Ability to perform basic computer program functions and use Skyward student database.
  • Ability to supervise and assist students with computer programs.
  • Ability to perform First Aid/CPR.
  • Ability to perform basic clerical functions.
  • Ability to lift and carry weights up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Consistent, reliable attendance according to established work schedule is required.
