PAY: Curriculum Rate

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A valid Washington State teaching certificate or certification in process through OSPI with English, English Language Arts, or Mid-Level Humanities endorsement.
  • Demonstrated strong skills and background in current trends, instructional methods and strategies in teaching students.
  • Demonstrated evidence of effective classroom management skills.
  • Demonstrated evidence of effectively working with students, parents and staff.
  • Knowledge of appropriate content standards and ability to integrate into classroom instruction.
  • Demonstrated ability to modify instruction to improve student learning through the use of formative, summative, and performance assessment strategies.
  • Advanced ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and through the use of technology.
  • Candidate has not received notice of nonrenewal from the Ridgefield School District pursuant to RCW 28A.405.220

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful teaching experience at the middle school level

  • Successful experience implementing inclusive practices with students with disabilities

  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and connect with students with a variety of backgrounds and interests

  • Experience and disposition to work in a team teaching arrangement, specifically to support struggling student populations

Essential Functions:

  • Facilitate student attainment of prescribed standards in English Language Arts, empowering students with superior skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and thinking
  • Collaborate with content and disciplinary teammates to provide a consistent, guaranteed and viable learning experience for all students
  • Establish a student learning environment based on positive, high expectations, mutual trust and respect, and relentless pursuit of knowledge and skill development
  • Implement building-wide Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support plan and practices
  • Work with a team of educators that is committed to the notion that all students can learn at high levels and teams teachers are the primary cause of that learning
  • Subscribe to the belief that “student success is a teacher’s paramount responsibility”
  • Treat co-workers, supervisors, students, parents, and others with dignity and respect at all times
  • Work and plan cooperatively and collaboratively as a part of a professional learning community
  • Maintain familiarity with education research and developments in the education profession, and integrate proven and research based teaching techniques that will maximize student learning.
  • Model high character for students both in and out of assignment, and practice the behaviors that are expected of our students
  • Prepare teaching materials and related reports (i.e. grades, attendance, assessment results, interventions, etc.) for implementing lessons and documenting student progress
  • Assess student progress, expectations, goals, etc. to provide feedback to students, parents, and administration
  • Maintain records and submit reports as required or appropriate
  • Participate in staff development aligned with School and District initiatives
  • Participate in a variety of meetings to develop systems for student success, support individual student progress, and plan for school-wide improvement
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance and hours of operation as set by the assigned building/location to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position to achieve program requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
