Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Educational Staff Associate (ESA) School Physical Therapist certification for the State of Washington or certification in process through OSPI.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Understanding of current State and Federal laws pertaining to the education of students with disabilities.
  • Demonstrated evidence of effectively working with students, parents and staff.
  • Knowledge of appropriate standards and ability to integrate into practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data to modify practice to improve student learning.
  • Experience using the IEP-Online system, or equivalent.
  • Training and/or experience in instructional and/or management strategies in PBIS, Collaborative Problem Solving, TEACCH, ABA, visual systems/learning, assistive technology, social thinking, social emotional learning, curriculum adaptations, social skills instruction, Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECS).
  • Experience and training in CPI nonviolent crisis intervention techniques or equivalent process.
  • Demonstrated competency with data tracking systems, IEP Development using computer supports such as Excel, Word, etc.
  • Advanced ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and through the use of technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize caseloads
  • Candidate has not received notice of nonrenewal from the Ridgefield School District pursuant to RCW 28A.405.220

 

Essential Functions:

  • Participate in screening and comprehensive assessments of student with orthopedic/physical or motor impairments
  • Participate as a specialist in the area of orthopedic/physical impairment to determine eligibility
  • Participate in developing integrated goals with other education staff for students on caseload
  • Participate in the preparation and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEP), service plans or Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP) for identified students
  • Prepare records and reports for eligibility evaluations, services, IEPs/IFSPs and transitions according to program procedures or as directed
  • Design, construct and adapt materials and equipment to provide support in the educational setting
  • Serve as a resource, consultant and trainer to provide specialized suggestions and/or equipment for use by educators and/or parents
  • Lead in the assessment, selection, training, management and use of assistive technology related to motor impairment
  • Instruct education staff in positioning, handling and mobility needs of the student to support educational goals/program
  • Ability to synthesize and integrate clinical, educational and interpersonal issues regarding change, disabilities, grief and loss
  • Work independently with limited contact with other PT staff. Maintain regular attendance at work, be punctual in meeting deadlines, attending meetings and following schedules
  • Maintain knowledge of and follow special education rules, regulations and procedures
  • Utilize a variety of communication tolls for correspondence
  • Monitor programs using observation, data collection and pre-post assessment
  • Consult and communicate with other professionals and student’s families regarding the needs of students
  • Work effectively and cooperatively with parents, teachers, administrators, support staff and community
  • Understand and use a variety of assistive technologies and programs
  • Participate in personal ongoing professional development
  • Meet district, state and federal timelines and legal requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Working Conditions:

  • May be required to travel to all buildings within the District. Must provide own transportation.

 

START DATE: 08/31/2021 with TRI days starting 08/25/2021.
